This vendor was looking to sell the majority of her client base but wanted to keep some clients post sale because she had looked after them for a number of years, in fact several decades, and they were more like friends than clients. This is not unusual with some of our vendors, but most want to sell 100% of their clients so they can leave deadlines and the HMRC behind.
She chose to use Draper Hinks to sell her fees because of our straightforward and pragmatic approach. When asked she said, “I found working with Draper Hinks to be excellent and my first impressions were that they were both professional and supportive.”
She was very worried about:-
- making sure she had chosen the right time to sell,
- would she find the right buyer,
- would it be the right financial deal,
- how could she minimise the risk.
In the end she chose the buyer that shared the same approach and ethos. That was very important to her as she wanted her clients to be happy with the move and for it to be as seamless as possible. The most difficult part of selling her practice was letting her clients go. She had built up such strong relationships with them that it was hard to hand them over to the buyer. She was most looking forward to not working such long hours, especially in January.
She was very happy with the service given by Draper Hinks and would be more than happy to recommend us to anyone thinking of selling their fees.
